VEIW Version 6.45 09/05/88
DOCUMENTATION:
View is a simple program to use and allows a user to look at,
but not edit, a text file. This may be desirable in some
environments where users need only to read text files.
Be sure to read the help screen, all the documentation necessary
is contained in the program help screen. This screen is
obtained from the command line by omitting any parameters to
VIEW, typing VIEW and pressing the enter key, or from viewing a
text file by pressing H or CTRL-H. From the help screen you may
set program parameters and then tell VIEW to save them so they
are always set this way. The function keys have a different
meaning in the help screen than they do during text viewing as
explained by the bottom line on the screen that is used for a
function key menu.
When the help screen is displayed the first four function keys
are use to set the screen display colors. You may temporarily
exit to the DOS command line by pressing function key 9, and
save your settings with function key 10.
When viewing text, function keys 2 through 7 and the normal
keypad keys are used for moving around in the file. The numeric
keys cause the same actions as the function keys.
Function key 8 or S is for searching for a character string in
the text. Successive presses of F or B repeats the same search
forward or backward respectively.
Function key 9 is for jumping to a specific screen page. Screen
pages are 21 lines high.
Function key 10 is for output to a file or device;ie; printer,
or COM1.
When VIEW exits back to DOS, it kindly restores the previous
screen to keep you from losing your place.

Happy Computing
and
Thank you for trying VIEW,
Alex Janssen
